its nice with abit of salt/pepper in the egg too.
Just had some with bacon
Although i was taught to add a touch (or splash) of milk/cream to the 'egg' mixture, as it makes it a little richer. Although i've never tried it with anything other than a load of pepper/bacon, sounds like i'm missing out with the sugar/maple toppings.

Actually, it's called French toast (think it's called Pain Dore, Pain Perdu is similar but different) as it originated from France (oddly enough) and devised as a way to use stale bread.

yeah mate they like their sugar. i went to a space shuttle launch in florida a few years ago and we were up at 5am for it. i saw a huge woman destroy a box of 12 dunkin donuts then ask her husband for a bite of his sandwich. i bet diabetes is high over ther.

make cheese dreams instead =
two bits of french toast/bread but slice/grate cheese in the middle of both while frying so cheese melts inside

I had no idea that eggy bread was what we called French Toast.
Nice with Strawberry jam on. Also, honey or Maple syrup.
Incidentally, French bread is something totally different for those unsure.
