After my waterpump died, I had headgasket, head skimmed/pressure tested, new pump, new cambelt and 15 valves replaced ( 1 survived lol) for £500ish all in.

i think the water has defrosted blew into the header tank water came through the rad but when i went to start is still making grinding noise is the water pump fucked and is that why it isnt starting

the timing will be out and all your doing by turning it over will be smashing the valves up more.

a decent garage will quote you around £800 to have it up and running again, presuming is a 1.4/1.6 16v engine

i rebuilt mine with genuine parts... top end gaskit kit, bolts, new head, cambelt kit and waterpump for around £350. i got the head from a running car in the scrapyard

been out there for the last two hours trying to get it goin it started after a few times and seems to be alrite i put antifreeze in and took it for a drive seems ok

i got a mate whos system froze on a nova sr. it made a grinding noise, but defrosted it and didnt have a problem with the engine

ahhh i left my xe engine for 2 years in back garden not started once and guess what fitted new battery and fired first time perfect, did have anti-freeze in though, but 2 winters not started once

seems to bit of a problem car started up an run tidy but seems to idle a bit and seems as if its goin cut out when stopped but when you drive it its ok any ideas

Am i reading this correct here??The HG was gone b4 it froze up.And now that its defrosted,the HG has sorted itself??
