in my bag i normally have:

hydration pack
multi tool
pump
tyre levers
2 innertubes
puncture repair kit
couple of locks
mobile phone
food

got a lite pack kit i take when i go hiking in the woods.

do you bother with mud guards or lights?

i have quick release mudguards for when i commute to work between april and sept. i only use them so i don't end up with a muddy stripe up my back when at work. if i go for a day out on the bike i usually leave them at home as they are hardly worth using. you'll be covered in crap if you are doing it right so there isn't much point in keeping your back clean.

as for lights. they are a necessity if you are riding in low light. i dont currently have any so i only go out for a few hours around midday.

Those DX's aren't available looking like that as they're quite old.

They're now called AM40's.

ive got these for when its really cold, they are nowhere near as tight as in the pic, they have a tough patch on the inside of the leg where to chain ring would catch, ive done a few hundered miles wearing these and they've been great
