Not a fan tbh.
Look retarded, not that quick, ridiculous tax, ridiculous insurance, juicy and pointless.
Get a Nova SR.

The new revised Mazda 3 MPS looks fantastic IMO. They have beefed it up a bit.

Only had one go in nearly two years, always kept a couple in the boot just incase
Cheers for all the new replies, managed to get on a forum at work and they do look like they can be pricey, especially if you get one that hasn't been maintained properly. Rplacement engine being 2k+ if goosed is not a good look

As far as I can see theres two reasons they depreciate like a stone - costs of running versus rivals as mentioned and the fact Mazda were knocking them out on 0% finance deals for ages - was cheaper to buy new than used so the used values plummeted.

Have a test drive in one. Theres no point worrying about IF it will go wrong else you'll stick to a bus pass. As said, working in London you'll hardly be driving it, and not really dependant on it just in case. Bye Bye Golfy

Gez - From what I've looked up it was only the RX7's that needed that. the RX8's use a RENESIS engine which doesn't need this afaik.
Rich - Good point and

I must had slated this car so much on here....I just can't help it.
You really must LOVE them to want to own one.I used to work at a Mazda dealer and some of the older models ie 52/03 plate cars were in getting rebuilds. Then there's the oil pipes recall.
They use shit loads of fuel and oil and they are not even remotely quick cars which IMHO is fucking pointless.Oh and they sound shit too.
Sure they used to look smart..they handle really well and the interior is a nice place to be but there are SO many other cars to buy for the money i don't see the pount in them.
RX8 or a 350Z???? No contest.

Not entirely true or a significant contributer to the residuals imo. Volume is another aspect of the depreciation and I would say the RX-8 is sudo/niche due to reduced volumes versus its direct competitors which ordinarily should work in its favour.

Cheers Nut
I saw something about the oil pipes and a couple of other bits too, and people saying not to buy one if they havn't had the recalls done.
For the price compared to the Z they seem like a bargain so i thought I'd have a look into them a bit deeper.
Had some good feedback in this thread

I know i sounded harsh there mate but it's true. There were at least 1 a week in getting a rebuild/new engine and the pile of oil pipes outside was like fucking Kilimangaro! And if they go...bye bye engine.
Stear clear.Thought about an R32???

No worries, its the sort of info i was after so I wont take it personally or anything
Yeah a mate has one though and I'm not too sure I'd want another golf after this one. Trying to move onto something more coupe/sporty looking. A brick on wheels doesnt fit

i test drove an rx-8 before i got my s2000, was good fun to drive - i loved the looks. pretty bad on fuel, but then its not the sort of car you buy for economy, that said other costs are high and you will need to take it to a mazda dealer for work if its a problem with the engine as its rotary.
rx8 vs 350z is no contest, 350z everytime.
insurance wise, i had a quote on the rx8 and 350z as i was looking at them, rx8 was cheaper than 350z. that said both wer alot cheaper than the s2k haha

Owning either a RX8 or a 350z has its own pitfalls.
350z's are prone to doing clutches for example.
I'd have a 350z myself but the fact is 5k more than an RX8 just shows what a bargain they are

I tend to be a pessimist and think "why are they £5k less?".

Theyre the sort of car you want your mate to have so you can have a punt but give it back to him when it goes wrong.
I've driven one, didn't blow my head off and the tax is enough to put me off.
