Depends on the price of the car as to how much I spend on the rest of it imo.

Never spent more than £280 on wheels, £390 inc tyres iirc. Picked up 2 mint sets for my van and old C after months of looking.

lol £440 isn't that much at all for rims.

I presume they don't come with tyres as you're making such a fuss

depends how good you are at not kissing the kerb with them. and i would say in some instances what car they are going onto. personally i wouldn't buy alloys that were worth more than the car tbh.

it shouldn't matter how much everyone else has paid neither, different people have different circumstances. if you can afford them and really like them get them bought

I spend as little as possible on wheels, as much as it takes for good tyres, and the rest goes on power.

Not a chance in a million years I'd spend more or anything near a fraction of what the car was worth.

buy a set of decent wheels, take care of them and you'll get all your money back when you sell

the wheels are what make the car, cheap wheels make the car look cheap in my eyes.

it's always better to pay a bit more for a refurbished set and not have to build them like i had to

make sure you're not paying OTT for them though, 15" bbs rs's are generally £1200+ for a nice set, sometimes even more if in a good fitment (4x100)

also, because they're are so many options (width, bolt finish, basket colour etc) every set is different

if you want them, and can afford them, then buy them. dont really see what the fuss is? theyre not going to add any value to the car, so thats why you can sell the seperatly at a later date.

I'd probably pay up to 700 for a nice rare set, but they'd have to be pretty special and come with tyres. I'd never buy new alloys though, waste of money imo. (unless they're rota flashbacks/rs4's. And thats only because I can't find any 2nd hand) Most I've actually paid for alloys with tyres is 180 I think.

same goes for any modification, but sought after wheels can be unbolted and sold on, usually at little or no loss
