Sorry but your road is just as snowey as mine has been and I drive icy backroads to work. I've managed so far and I'm a fucking panicky fool in the car. Although granted, my house isn't on a hill. Have to drive up a big hill to get to work though and that's been pretty eventful. Damn remote hospital locations!

My car would not move from where it is in that photo, never even made it as far as the road at the bottom.

What's wrong with 35 miles? I do 45 miles there and 45 miles back. Yes, 90 round trip. Keeps me off the streets

...Trekking 35 miles...to walk home again...

Do you even want me to write about how retarded that is?

Edit- just seen that his definition of trekking is to drive.

I dont think it is under the employment law and think they are just trying to play a fast one hoping you dont kick up a fuss.

well i work for the nhs, they said if you dont turn up you dont get paid and cant take it as holiday. this is a second week now of no pay within the last month..im a student, im not made of money

i can see the point of it, its the nhs and they need people in, and they don't want most people not turning in cause the childs school is closed or they can't be bothered, but i live 10 miles away and im not walking there. they dont understand that people live some distance away from work, and they expect you to put your self in danger to get to work. its not only getting to work, its also getting home from work, cause i don't fancy spending the night at work cause of the weather.

although my mum works there as well, she some how got 2 days holiday for the 2 days she didnt come in but has to go into tomorrow morning.

Second week? You've never had 2 weeks of conditions so bad you couldnt limp to work in a car.

Cosmo, bear in mind I'm living apparently meters from l15ter (same village as my flat) - kinda strange I have been driving about and going to work

and my car is a rwd, no weight across the driving wheels, bald tyres, death trap. No way have we had undrivable conditions for 2 weeks

yeah you do lol, but i live down the un-made roads to right of you as you come out of the flats, i got the dig my way out to the main road, waterloo road which isnt clear and up hill, where as you basically live on the high street which is pretty clear lol. its not just getting out of crowthorne, its getting to frimley and then getting home again. plus sandhurst road is not the best of roads to go along in this weather.

Although the business closed on Wednesday, customer facing staff were encouraged to get in on thursday. Very few did as they saw it as gratis - although I acknowlege conditions were far from ideal. In light of this, today we hired in a defender county & transit minibus aswell as buying a discovery 3 and freelander. No excuses tomorrow when the directors go knocking

At the time this was posted he said he was "trekking" to work. Which he later decided to reveal he was actually driving to work.

Agreed.
Everyone goes into meltdown over it. It's like "omg snow; I'll forget how to drive now."

Paul_J do you have to travel far to work?

yeah im not going to work because of:

1. its 10 miles away and if snows again, i dont fancy sleeping at a hospital for the night when im not even ill lol.
2. too lazy to dig the car out.
3. if i go in, im going to have to work hard as they are short of staff lol.
