does a lightened flywheel affect idle?
yeah due to the reduced weight can cause some cars to stall or idle poorly. the momentum of the rotating mass of the flywheel actually helps most cars to idle smoothly. reduce this weight and it can sometimes cause some vibrations, or in general just shite idle.

well most the idle issues come from extremely light ones. couple of kg's wouldnt really harm it.

That wee 106 is a bit of a beast, hats off to nic for admitting that it would be just as quick if not quicker than his.
I loved my 106 when I had it and would have another it I had spare cash for a wee track car.

it will be quicker. no doubt about it. im not one to live in a dream world and think my car is the fastest thing in the world as the times will tell you its not. there are much faster things out there, and other stuff thats just as fast.
i like fast cars. and thats a great project.

whats nics car like for traction? fair enough the 106 is lighter but surely 100bhp can compensate for the extra weight. and also whats the torque figures on both of these? surely a 2.0 turb has got to have muchos more torque than a 1.6 turb?
sorry if it states the torque in the build thread of the 106, really cant be bothered to spend my whole lunch break reading about french

Last time I heard the place he got his engine built made a complete hash of it and it went very pear shaped, its being rebuilt again afaik.

the 106 gets a better 0-60. he says 4.6 ive only got a 4.9. id imagine it gets better 60ft times also i average about 2.3 60ft which is fairly poor. im not in it to compete against other things or who has the fastest whatever. id rather just have fun in a car built on my driveway.
