an xe on carbs is quite a considerable amount more than a 1800, and you know this nic

alot of work insetting up TB;s with management, or carbs with a uprated ignition, then getting the carb setup correctly. etc etc.

Theres a very usefull guide over on Mig about fitting R1 carbs to an XE.

Looks very easy and straightforward, but i think its the re-jetting and setting up the fueling etc thats the hard bit.

then the new ignition you'll need, then all the fucking about getting it actually set correctly without a rolling road

It can be done i'd say for £500 on carbs ..thats if your very good at setting it up yourself.

if it was as easy as everyone says, everyone would have carb'd engines surely..

carb's are just not the best. for the sake of bike tb's being so cheap its better to get them and full programable ecu and have it done that way. but then again, your talking a lot more than similar money to an 1800 conversion.

similar money, still lol at that.

The whole point of the small block 1.8 conversion is how easy it is.

If a Z18XE required same amount of work and parts as a C20XE to install it into a Corsa no one would bother.

If you already had a x14xe,x16xe or c16xe.

Couldnt you just use all of the existing stuff? Mounts, shafts, hubs, brakes, gearbox, power steering?

Costing alot less money than the other "conversion parts" for a 20XE?

Ignition side is sorted with a cav adjustable dizzy etc.

I think its the scary low mpg and fuking about getting the fueling correct that puts people off doing it.

Old school tuners can set carbs up.Theres a few places quite local to me who could do it.

My post was purely aimed at carbing an XE,and in no relation to the cost of an 1800 conversion.

i've heard running the cav dizzy is shady, doesn't run right, well over or underfuels, isn't very good.
you can do it cheap, but better to spend a bit of cash on what your doing.

i've got carbs being fitted march/april, i'll get a nice shocker with the mpg im sure!

this has gone way of course as usual

he didnt even ask about comparing

tbh, you can realy gauge by a video, only by being in a car

and to compare, you need two side by side

what about the same mods on the 1.8 though..

standard for standard figures speak for them selfs

a standard 1.8 will be faster than a 1.6, a standard 2.0 will be faster than both, simplies!

personaly if i wanted a quick car, id just buy one, oh i have
