It was given the project code name 'Tomcat' when in development. Although the car was never badged as 'Tomcat' the name was used on some of the parts, and can be found on the reverse side of some of the interior trim panels.

A Tomcat is an F14 ffs

Did Rover give it that designation, did they have a badge on the back saying tomcat?

Show me some proof id be happy to be wrong will put a 15 odd year debate to bed anyway

I misread it, I thought the offer was to take a 15 year old to bed.

Bollocks.

LMFAO why oh why do people refer to them as Tomcats

That was the pre and post production codename for the Coupe at Longbridge SetH.

It was just a codename. Nothing boastfull. The name was in relation to the animal, not the aircraft.

It WAS a 150 mph car too.

A couple of times back in the day i was tempted to get one. I really liked that deep blue colour they did them in and they were always really cheap. Too many horror stories about reliability though put me off.

That's MG Rover for you though Seth. Mind I wouldn't mind owning one. I had a Rover Metro when I first started and had no troubles with that.
