Its normally the old or just plain strange people that kick off.

We all got threatened by some old women once, says she and her boys where old school and she could sort us all out, louds of swearing out loud in front of other customers and children, lucky for us the old bill walked in just as she was swearing, was hilarious to watch her being put in her place.

I've also been threatened by some very strange people, one guy who looked like he was a white wesley snipes blade rip off said he was going to "curb stomp" me that was only because he asked for a lighter whilst i was working and i didn't have one.

Thinking about this has made me realise how patient I can be, I don't think I've ever lost it with a customer. There's a couple of occasions I seem to remember getting to the point of starting to be a bit arsey with customers, talking to em like the numb pricks they were and a couple of times I've hung up on them cos I was sick of hearing them making excuses as to why a problem is my fault and not theirs, when it's actually them that's causing it.

I remember having a customer going on and on about a problem that was apparently my fault so much so I put my phone down on the desk and carried on with what I was doing

Checked back about 60 seconds later and he was still going on so I left it again and forgot about it, picked it up about an hour later so I can only imagine how long he was talking to himself for

Many moons back when I was a student I worked for NThelL, which is now Virgin Media.

I had some random cuntsplash come on the phone kicking off from the word go and I wasn't exactly known for having a long fuse anyway (people used to pass complaints to me to put them in their place! :lol

He comes on saying he had a fault with his cable TV. A few clicks later and I realised we had cut him off as he had never paid a bill since he was installed. I explained it all to him a number of times but the thick tosser couldn't take it in. Eventually he says 'The service at NTL is fucking shit!' to which I said 'I don't think you really have room to comment on a service you have had for a number of months and never paid a penny towards!'

Anyway, he then flew into a proper rage (whilst I had muted him hearing me as I was laughing knowing I was winding him up) and started saying how he is a solicitor and how he was going to sue me for libel.

A deep breath later and I responded with 'Well sir, if you are a Solicitor, you should know the difference between libel which is in the written format and slander which is verbal, you are using a phone at present so it sure as hell isn't in writing! Maybe if you were a bit better at your job you would get paid more and could afford to pay your bills, then you wouldn't be wasting my time today!'

I think he realised he got owned so hung up.

Best of all, he called back and got transfered to me to handle a complaint about myself.

There are some proper nob head customers out there, not sure why they tink that just because someone is at work they are not a fellow human being. I worked at an offy, it was open 10-10, anyway one night a bloke comes in at about 3 mins to 10, we finished at 10 and got paid to 10 only even though we had to cash up etc so the quicker we shut the quicker we were off. He started looking at wines and generally taking a while so I politely asked if he could hurry up as we shut at 10, to which he proper kicked off in a manner that would suggested i'd just raped his wife or something, tosser.

I've demonstrated my disappointment before now at shops who advertise when they close then actually stop being a shop before that time.

I lose it all the time with students. Does them good. Get angry parents and stuff sometimes as well although I usually get some data and tell them how poor their kid's attendance is or how far behind they are with their work, that's normally a surprise to them!

Angriest guy I've ever dealt with wrote about me on his blog because a course I was running didn't start when he wanted it to.

I've only once lost it and it was with a big conference we had in at the hotel - 250 delegates worth about £30k to the hotel! The "organiser" was a bitch and completley unreasonable. She was abusing my staff, not listening to our advice/suggestions about how the lunch should run etc so eventually I flipped, ripped her to pieces and told all my staff to stop what they were doing and go for a break. 5 mins later she came to me to apologise, explained she was stressed about the event which is why she was being a bitch etc. Tbh I was thinking i'd screwed up with the event being worth so much!!

the best was when the supervisor let two people go on a break and then disappeared herself.
i was left alone in the kitchen to cook and clean the tables. it suddenly got really busy and i couldn't do it all myself.
so i threw baked beans all over the walls and floors and walked out. got half way to maidenhead and then decided to return.
when i got back everything was cleaned and all the orders had gone out. the supervisor said "are you ok?"
then i carried on cooking.

That is EPIC!!! Tbh the supervisor probs realised she had screwed up and was glad to see you return!

If you spoke to me like that i'd demand to speak to a manager.

If I employed you, you'd also be sacked.

Plenty of times.

Reliefs the pressure of speaking to utter numpties on the phone.

Always great when they are on mute though, whinging away, they you un-mute them to inform them you had been listening to everything they have said

I just used to use the line

"I understand your frustration, but is it MY fault? Do you honestly think having a huge rant and whinge and me personnally, will make me want to help you in any kind of way, or do you think it'll mean I make your life even more problematic"

No joy, then inform them to have a good day, and hang up.

Its why I never gave out my name on the phones

We dont like those sorts of comments on here, you must be thinking of another, more performance orientated, forum.

I got refused insurance because i asked for someone english on the phone i lol'd.

I dont mind speaking to foreigners if they have reasonably good English.

But i wasnt willing to spell out every single word to them while im paying shed loads for the call anyway!

I'm an awkward bastard on the phone sometimes. I feel quite sorry for some people that i complain to, 9 times out of 10 its nothing to do with them and they're only doing their job.
