what is meant by software betting on bookies? Individual bookies websites? Plenty of software out there to emulate mouse clicks and button presses. Also i'm guessing Betfair has freely available api access?

If you're just after automation then look at AutoIt. It's similar to VB/Basic so it's a piece of piss to use. The only issue you have with AutoIt, is that you don't natively have direct access to a browsers controls (ie: a firefox window, form button on a website etc) so you have to use emulated mouse clicks. Although you can get around this by installing the MozRepl (gives you access/control to Firefox/website via telnet) plugin for Firefox and then using the FF.au3 class.

Gambling is a mugs game.
The systems are nothing if you dont know whent to stop, its a vicous cycle.
If you bet and loose then place a larger bet down (and keep repeating each time you loose), your bound to beat the bookies so long as you stop after the win.
If you carry on, your just in that cycle.
It aint for me thats for sure.

Of course there is, I've had my ladbrokes account for about 4 years and I'm up over those years betting almost exclusively on football. Reason I've won is I take a keen interest in football therefore can pick who is going to win more often than not
If you mean in terms of poker or casinos then aye, you're better off without them.

i used to gamble for a living playing fruit machines back in the late 90`s and early 2000`s was regularly makoing between 800-1500 a week but only becasue back then machines could be manipulated very easily but now with all these deal or no deal machines and copys out its near impossible unless you are in the right loop of people

I think the F1 could be very interesting to bet on this year...
about 6 drivers that have a great chance of winning and the rest of the field being close behind ...
What this means is that it's hard for the bookies to define a 'favourite' and 'non favourites'...
As such you may find the odds are incorrectly slanted proportionate to real life chances of things happening / solely determined by how much money is being backed by punters on drivers (e.g. lewis / jenson being fav because they get a lot of money placed on them by uk fans).
As such, I think if you consistently bet on the 3rd or 4th top favourite on the betting, you'll probably find they'll give fairly ok odds like 4/1 and actually come and win quite often.
Similarly betting each way, will give you great cover as there's a high chance of about 6-8 drivers getting on the podium.
