The time compared to the speed shows the weight compared to the power. Hybrid TDi Ibiza's run high 13's/14's at 96-100mph, which is a second quicker (around 300kg's less) but 20bhp less (hence similar speed)

I disagree tbh as I said I never spin 3rd on the road but was easily spinning in 3rd if I wanted too up the strip.

Yeah boy did I see the crashes. Our stand was at the finish line of the strip, twice I saw a car spinning out of control at about 100mph or maybe more. Was madness! I've never seen anything like it seems like every ran out of talent that day.

I queued for about 2 hours for my 2nd run. A R5 Turbo shat it's oil onto the track so it was shut for a while so they did some stupid competition. Then about 3 cars did runs then an RX7 & Ibiza Cupra from the HKS Series raced, the RX7 started fishtailing about halfway up the track, Ibiza panicked as he thought it was coming into his lane and hit the wall, RX7 span out but didn't hit anything, so had to wait even longer for that to be cleared again. Then missed 3rd on that run anyway

Whats the 0-60 of these??About 6.3secs?

Even though it weighs in at 1480kg,a mid,to low 14s should be acheivable easy enough. And you have an LSD which would help massively.

i think it's a repesctable time tbh.

those vredesteins are a good all weather tyre if you get a good launch on them.

when i had conti sport contact's on mine, they kept spinning up but the vredesteins seemed to grip pretty well on traffic light grands prix'

people who haven't been in these newer heavy turbo hot hatches won't understand they are mainly about 30mph + driving and not standing starts.

as i said on the way to the ace yesterday, 1/4 is pretty irrelevant IMO anyway, espically for gauging how a newish car is real world quick

a much more significant test would be say 30-70mph ?

Quarter mile is bollocks I agree, the years we used this as a benchmark of performance looking back was very naive.

You can use a 1/4 mile to get a gauge of a car.

Just don't go on the time, go on the terminal speed.

We've also got the vershdinkumpoops on the Astra after going from a continental 2, then conti 3's (terrible), and now the vershis.

53,000 miles

true. Real world performance of my vehicle is far more mental than its quarter time suggests.

But your 130+mph's show this as thats bike speed territory (faster than some too, but with a slower time).

The site I use for car stats doesn't state 0-60, 0-50 says 4.5 secs. Mid 14's is standard time, so yes it would be achievable

Same I didn't think it would get many comments tbh

It slows down at about 140. I think a video using my new mini camera thingy will need to be done.

Saw two of your runs. I thought you did well. Having never been to a 1/4 mile before it appeared the majority of the Astra VXR's were getting mid 15's, so was suprised when you came it at just over 15.

It has suprised me that people on here are saying VXR will do 14.5 in standard form, they must have all been crap drivers on sunday.

Cheers Ash

I didn't even watch the strip action at all so wasn't sure what times people were getting, that's made me feel slightly better :-) had a couple of people come up to me whilst I was queuing again asking me what was in it so it must have looked fairly fast

Did you see the run where I was on my own? All eyes on me, go to launch, all the noise, then Traction Control kicks in and stops everything, forgot to turn it off, doh!!!
