Facelift ST's sound awesome in the cabin due to the way they made it iirc.
Both lovely cars, I'd drive both and go from there, if you like the way they both drive then go for looks

ST is a lot more juicy than the Astra, anything with a 2.5 engine and a Turbo is going to be.
I love the dash pod in the ST and the facelift ones are a massive improvement over the pre-facelifts.

A white version of Ben G's old one would be my choice. Just couldn't stomach that kind of MPG.

I'll be making the same sort of choice shortly. Love the vxr but the 5cyl noise is epic. There's a lovely Orange one round my way and it looks fantastic!

Corrado VR6 for me, don't see much appealing about the astra or focus.
Both seem about as fast as my corrado in the real world, they just cost 3x as much

That's it, when I see you on COD6 I will chase around after you on trying to squat on your face.

VXR for me out of those 2. Mine is a 2.3 and fuel consumption is ridiculous so I can vouch for how bad it probably is on the ST.
I just love the VXR looks, I would have had one if they weren't so common.

Prefer the ST so I would go for that, never been a fan of the MK5 Astra.

Pfffffff, that extra few hp makes a lot of difference imo in a straight line. Nothing in it = ST looses out every time
ST is more of a "refined" hot hatch, and the VXR is more of a "drivers" hot hatch. If you want to enjoy the drive, get the astra, if you want something thats quite fun to drive, pokey, but still very much a road car with softer suspension, get the ST.
Wasn't keen on ST driving position at all. VXR far superior here. ST sits quite high too.
Quality, ST wins here. Astra has come on, but still a little cheap looking, and I hate piano black. IMO the earlier interiors are better.
Fuel - Average 27mpg, get about 260-300+ per tank of 52 litres.
Noise, RASSSSSP vs BURBLE, think the ST wins here tbh.
Handling. Sure you can cock the rear wheel up on an ST, but the astra is the better handling car, even with its fat wavey ass as standard.

You say you can get 260-300, but is that driving fast or driving like a granny?
I drove to Santa Pod and back and with some pottering around I hit 320 miles and reserve light wasn't quite on but was close, but I think I came on boost about twice and only for a quick overtake, my god it was a boring test to see how much I could get out of it

Rush hour traffic mainly to work down the A2.
But then when I use it ..... tbh I don't care, when it runs out, its out. I don't think i've ever lasted a full "economy" drive in it. When I get on the motorway, I just want to get home so sit at errrrr, 110kph.... orrificer
PS, tested A2 curve again, 92mph

Damo is that going from the M25 onto the A2 or the other way around?
I love the bend coming onto it as you leave the M25
