You say that like they don't know what they're doing. They know exactly what market they're aimed at and what that market will pay. Not rocket science.

It's priced the same as a clio 200, both are expensive, it's not expensive compared to similar cars though.

All as bad as each other really.

No but I'm not going to start hunting out the best offers on each individual one. People are moaning (me included) about the list price of 18k but like you say the competitors are as bad.

I think they all have expensive list prices.

But thats the point, you think its overpriced, someone else doesn't. Doesn't mean any of the manufacturers are in the wrong

Besides, you're the one with the BMW

They set their price based upon the type of people they want to sell the car to. They know what will sell and at what price. If they wanted to knock out cars like the megane or clio they would, but they don't.

All VW care about is their profit margin, like any other manufacturer.

its over priced thats why

Look ta all the german manufacturers and everything is an option - the worst are audi or VW

whats even worse is they do the same for replacement parts. Stupidally high, Its a joke.

i've paid:

£105 for windscreen wipers and arms
£120 for an electric water pump
£92 for a foglight
£89 a rear caliper
£200 for radiator

I didnt say the manufacturers were wrong

Read my post - I just said its overpriced

Any the BMW is a company - so when looking at lease prices its cheaper for me to have a BMW than an Insignia etc

plus they are kinder on my wallet with emmisions and BIK

Yes but the reason they have done it is so that you can have the power of a 2.0L along with the fuel economy of a 1.4 and the tax of a 1.4.

In the long run i think you could save money...

Hasn't the 1.4 engine won shit loads of awards throughout europe already!!

Anyway, stick a map on it, which would take you up to 210bhp, and your already on the heals of the 'big boys'

Why not? Its a 1400 with years of science behind it. I'm confident it will.

I watched the 5th gear, they proved it was right.

Terrible test though.

I've heard that once these modern gen SC and TC engines are run in they are really good on fuel, and retain some good performance too.
