The ZR mk1's look a lot nicer than the MK2's i think. dont think the front end is as nice or the dash in it. seems a lot more squareish

My Dad had a 200Vi which is the same engine as the 160 (I think) and the HG never went in 4 years / 60k. It only went wrong once and it wasnt anything major. It handled fantastic too, and pulled really well.

Good car for the money whent hey run.

Big head gasket problems, coolant problems, discs are £90 each, poorly put together.

Terrible experience with an 03 plate one.

HG issue is solved if you fit the Lotus one to the 160 engine.

It's a valve in the head that causes the HG problems,

There is a ball valve to the rear left hand side of the head,

Fit whatever head gasket you want, it'll keep blowing them till the ball valve is drilled out.

My comment was based upon the latest ones where they'd tried to modernise them, the plastics are really cheap and they came from the factory with rattles and squeaks.

right

are you a fucking idiot or what?

you have a perfectly good polo, that has served you well, and are only selling because its clicked over 100k, what kind of mentality is that?

then you have a go at me for wasting money.

then to top it off you are contemplating swapping it with a car that a) the manufacturer has gone bust and you can no longer get parts, and b) has known headgasket problems

then you want to replace the headgasket with a lotus one before you've even bought it, so you are spending money on it already!

please can you get this utterly ridiculous idea out of your head before i go outside and strip my car and fit buckets

The later ones really are! The older ones with twin headlights may not be quite so bad, a mate had a Rover 25 of that age and it wasn't so bad.

The noise is pretty nice with one of those X-Power exhausts on (if a bit loud ) and they go pretty well for standard!

The interior is shocking, my dad had 2 MG's (ZR and ZS) and they both fell to pieces inside.

Never had any other problems with them though
