The workshop is at a farm which processes waste wood, they came with branches and left with our batteries. No idea where they were going with them but I would guess they're getting more than a quid each somewhere.

pour acid out (maybe on some weeds) pour normal water in to dilute whats left (don't want burnt), get a big hammer and smash it up, throw plastic in recycling bin (leaves more space in waste bin), take lead to a man with a lead plan.

40p / Kilo at my local scrap metal place

Average batterys gotta be 10kg+ surely

Definetly no point throwing them away, £4 is £4 at the end of the day.

My local council waste disposal site has several shelves outside full of batteries, I think I may take some (probably not).

I dont get some of this....

Do people think differently to me? I cant see the logic in going to all the hassle of dismantling a battery, getting covered in acid, ripping lead plates out, disposing of battery remains and then going to the scrap man to collect about £4.

What the fuck is the point!!! Surely your time wasted is worth more than that!??!?!

Same with these plums that drive an extra couple of miles to save 1p on a can of beans, or go to multiple shops to get something about 5p cheaper. FUCKIN PLEBS

you waste time, you waste fuel, you waste money to save money

I can understand selling batteries to scrappies if you have lots (1000's) but not single batteries.

rant over

No, collecting as in a small company has waste collection contrats with about 1000 sites ( golf clubs, farms, uni's, etc). They collect old tyres, batteries, aerosol cans, plastic, cardboard, oil - engine and cooking etc....Some is sold on to be recycled. Stuff like tyres has to be collected by some recycling company that charge 90p a tyre.
