surely if you do a points style thing then the people who can make every monday for x amount of weeks has an advantage?

Pretty much, gives people an incentive to play. You don't actually pay towards the final prize, that's a extra bonus essentially. Any buy-in goes to the game you play, nothing else.

I thought poker tournaments were done like:
start with for example 30 people
table sits 6
5tables for all players.
left with a winner per table
each winner makes it throught to the next round/final
where that winner would take it.
2months seems quite long for one tournament imo.

My idea was just to play until there's a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. 1st gets 50% of the pool, 2nd gets 30% and 3rd gets 20%.
Now everyone is given points based on their place. 1st gets 100, 2nd gets 90, 3rd gets 80 etc.
This goes on for the whole tourny, and whoever has most points (ranked 1st, 2nd, 3rd) at the get additional prizes.
Dno if this is to everyone's fancy? Just gives more of a reason for people to play in the long run. Don't have to play every week, but hinders your chance of the final prize. You follow?

just alright for those with money to spare 
$10 (£6.40) buy in each week for 8weeks (£51.20)
thats a fair bit of dolla for me

But in all fairness, if other people, as well as you want a lower buy-in then we can do that. I'm just going for the majority vote.

just me personally i would pay for a lager buy in if it were monthly.
that way i could miss a week or two and wouldnt worry about the point system and what not.
but thats just me.
as you said before this is all just the sorting out stage.

Convo with the guy helping us sort it.
Every new account will trigger £40 for the league once they wager $20 in rake
so 10 people = £400
I personally would offer it just for the winner, so a 1st prize of £400
If they are keen for this, I would offer them the chance to increase the pot.
