and 100 quid is quite cheap for designer sunglasses.
i paid 5 euro's for some fake ray bans that lasted 2 days on holiday. i was on holiday for 14 days.
corsa nut says they have last him 5 holidays. probably on average 14 days each holiday means 14x5 = 70.
now mine last 2 days of one holiday. that means i would need 7 pairs for 14 days. 7x5=35. now times that by 5 for 5 holidays and it means it would cost me £175 for cheapo sunglasses...
therefore 100 quid for proper designer sunglasses that actually protect your eyes is worth it.

i think youre missing the main point here.
if i paid 100 quid for sunglasses i would assume they would last longer because, well who wouldnt take extra care on something so little that costs quite a lot.
on the other hand if you buy a pair of 2 quid sunglasses then tbh you wouldnt give a fuck, therefore they last no where near as long, unless you do treat them like 100 quid ones.

I concur with Ben, I was forever breaking/losing cheap pairs from Next etc. but when you fork out on expensive ones then you tend to look aftyer them betetr plus they are made form decent materials so last logner anywway PLUS look after your eyes better. Win win win tbh

Actually it kinda is. Rich boy.
Guarantee they don't cost anywhere near that to produce. The rest of the cost is a huge markup just because of the designer name. So in reality they are expensive for what they are.
I recently got a pair of sunglasses from Next - £12

ooooooh touchy. Ive got plenty of cheap sunglasses too from Primark/Next/River Island but I just dont think much of spending £100 on some sunnies if you want a really decent pair. Then again, I am 'Rich Boy'

WTF is with some peoples comments.
Poor comparison (bear with me) but I wouldnt put ditch finder tyres on my new BMW so why would you put cheap sunglasses on that wont protect your eyes - certainly more so after laser surgery?
£100 for a pair of shade is reasonable given the assumed quality and UV protection.

ok few misconceptions here
yes you should get a decent pair to protect your eyes as £1 pairs from poundland ect are basically just coloured plastic.
however, its a bit stupid to think you need to spend £100 on sunglases are they wont be affective.
take these examples
http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/oakley-ice-pick-black-iridium-polarized-mens-sunglasses-p102955
http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/sinner-prime-pc-smoke-silver-mir-p96365
both offer exactly the same level of protection 100% from UVA/UVB/UVC rays.
so basically after you pass the £20 - £30 mark your just paying for the brand, which is fair enough if you likes branded goods, but saying only the ridiculous costing brand name glasses offer protection is just stupid.

Diving shops - £15 - full uv protection, anti shatter lenses, lenses pop out and frame is flexible to reduce damage, spare set of lenses included and lenses cover round the sides so you never get blinded

How is that a comparison??? Those second ones look shit! My Police ones stayed on my head no matter what too which is a reason why i want the same.
Oh and they have lasted me 5 years of not just summer holidays but here at home too so £100 don't seem that bad I agree with the brand =£ but my police were VERY well made and have taken a lot of stick.

Feck it, if you can afford it then why not. It's like cars, why spend £10k when you can get one for £1k. You do it because you can, and because its what you want to do.
