a man once said to me that mechanics is just about solving problems. putting the bits in the right place is the easy part.
did the bolts pull out alright. mine caught the sill do had to bash that out the way

Did you try stabbing yourself in the neck?
Otherwise the jack solution is adequate.

I did that job in a scrappy with another car underneath.
Sure you will need to drop the back box to get the bolt out. Doesn't need to come off, just whip it off the mounts and swing on it.
Near side is free to leave I think.

bolt is out just unhooked exhaust and pushed to one side just enough room

No i didn't, i make sure i pull the spring back with my hands now before un doing the top mount bolt

Iv had a tractor attached to a big fuck off breaker bar using a sling before to remove some nuts on an artic trailer

Have you tried jizzing on it? If not then just buy a new s/s exhaust? Or remove the Old one, repair it and give it a nice powdercoat finish?
