Mine was less than that the other week going from Notts to Cov, about 10 on a Sunday evening, all motorway/dual carriage way!

(I might have been playing though )

How the hell did you get 34.5 in an evo?
Was the journey long though? mine was an acceptable 30 miles.

It was a friend of mine trying to bait me into buying an E36

Says he gets this as he drives to and from work via the motorway so its almost understandable. I've experienced the wrath of a 740 around town and I wont be doing that in a hurry tbh

I've seen people get around 38ish from an Evo 3.2 but its according to the OBC so fuck knows how reliable it is

I find the motorway is never good for MPG, as your constantly sitting at 70-80mph were a nice country road prob averaging 50mph.

motorway was great for my 540, that too would see 34-35mpg sitting at 70 on cruise,
my 330 doesnt even see those sort of figures doing the same speed,

69.1 is great. Most I've seen at a constant motorway 68mph is 56mpg in my 150 CDTI astra.

Don't know how people get anywhere near a genuine 69mpg without driving along at 30 on a straight flat road for ages.

On the other hand, I could get the computer to show that no bother.

I've never seen the Volvo get 70mpg, even when coasting. Bastard.

Be interested to know if that was the average for the journey or if it was the instant MPG read out. As the instant MPG is not accurate at all

That symbol is average but it could be average over 2 miles of coasting or whatever.

If it was reset while driving along the motorway in a warm car it would go to that straight away.

I've seen on other forums people think they are genuinely getting that mpg as well

Also, is it just me, or does it piss you off when people say 'i still get 50 to the gallon out of my car thrashing it everywhere' or im buying a diesel as it does 55 to the gallon knocking around town (as someboday said to me with a golf GT TDI), and then they are gutted when they are doing 30's

Agreed John I can get my trip to show that MPG if I coast etc. Soon as I drive normally it drops to mid 50s. If I sit at 85 it drops to 45-46.

Yeah. It's pretty easy to get it to read what you want it to read or like you say look at the reading after they've started their car up and coasted a mile down a hill!
