people see them drifting and doing powerslides on tv and think that looks cool and dream about a rwd. then in reality you never get to do that. just drive it like a normal car.

Surprised you don't like them, similar to your corrado, most people own really old ones then spend all day telling people how that's ok because it's a bmw and it'll go forever.

Except the bmw is just an old bmw, normally with a small slow engine, not something fairly sought after.

I thought the rs4 was a better car than the e46 m3???

I'd have one over the m3 any day.

quite often have the pleasure of driving bmws and audis for work journeys, the audis always seem better imo.

I do like the m3 etc and nice models. even all the lesser models are good cars and engines. not really got anything against them. its most but not all of the owners that puts me off.

bit too drug dealer look

I've had a 160 brake Insignia SRI diesel the past week and I'd have that every day of the week over a 3 series diesel. In fact my old dear has a C Class courtesy car at the minute and I'd have it over that as well.

You don't but BMWs if all you are interested in is computing, you buy them for the occasional B-road blast aswell.

I think you need to rememeber BMW's/Mercs are pretty expensive and the appeal lies with the fact you get a lot for your money when depreciation has taken it's toll.

In my opinion I always love the way they drive the solid feel and near perfect steering.

as fad said the steering is a great appeal to me and the build quality
pretty much sums it up for me brand snobbery has nothing to do with it, there no more expensive to buy than any other car second hand

My dad had shit loads of em through the years always been solid

had 1 e46 I wish he never sold so when I was old enough I bought one of my own, plus started my car career working on em as an apprentice so I know the good build quality compared to the run of the mill shit that's out ther that I had the misfortune to work on

I had 5 or so cars upto my first 3 series and it felt special every time I got in it. Solid, sounded nice and handled well. Owned it for longer than any car i'd had up to that point. Replaced with a Lexus..boring, Mr2..average, 540 happy days just a bit juicy. Got a Merc after that and its been miserable owning it. Dull to drive, uneconomical, rusting to pieces. Will be replaced with another BMW.

first bmw i ever drove was a R plate e39 528i with 170odd k miles on it, which to look at was a heap of shit,
it drove 10x better than my car i had at the time which was a 03 astra gsi,
needless to say the astra was sold sharpish and a 3 series took its place now Iam on my 3rd e46

I'm looking at E46 coupes and cabs because they look good, and you get a very decent spec for not loads of money either. If Audi did a coupe around that price range or a cab that i liked the look of that didnt look like a hairdressers car I would probably take them into consideration

like people have said they are just as costly as any other second hand car

Just means you might have to get a slightly older BMW compared to a slightly newer car from another maufacturer

Also BMW are flooding the market due to their very competitive corporate and business leases so plenty to be hand second hand

I loved my 120D and the 3 series is even better

And they look very good bit different from the rest

I looked at the 3 Series M Sport before I got my A4 S-Line. Much preferred the interior in the A4, and tbh 3-series are becoming too common. (I know A4's arent exactly rare either!)
