And stupidly slow and boring! Lucky to hit 60 before work, knly 60 you'll see is mpg maybe. I think if its a daily driver and 100 miles a day needs to be a turbo. Prbly get a 115 tdi golf maybe?

I wouldnt mind a slow wagon for local runs but 100 miles a day your bound to come across a few slow badgers you would want to overtake, and it would kill you after being used to a Z20LET
I remember overtaking in my 1.2 corsa used to be suicidal at anything abover 50/60

Not just yet, i really don't want to sell it but I just cannot afford to keep it . Will be for sale early January I would think, earlier if I find a good commuter.

I'd be tempted to sell our runaround. 1.6 Corolla SR, W plate, 56k miles, does 40+ on a run, ultra reliable. Yours for £1550 with a years ticket and 5 mths tax.

Correct! i went from Z20LET to X18XER vectra. It was always going to be a downgrade power wise but the vectra is very comfy and i find it quite nice looking. Always like facelifted ones compaired to 03/04's though.
You would be looking at a base spec or high miler sri for 2k though.
Congrats on your new job mate.

Cheers
While looking at clio DCis I found that the 1.9 Lagunas are very cheap! Found a nice 2004 on autotrader for £2100.
Anyone rate them?

The bigger the car the less the MPG... You want a small car to get the miles per tank!
My Dad does 750 miles a week minimum in his Prius, gets through 2 tanks a week with easy whereas my Clio could have done that on one and 1/4 or 1/5 EASY.

Clio driving position is high but I'm 5" 10 and for in mine with ease and comfort. That's with either chairs tbh. Avoid one with a sunroof if possible

Clios are more expensive
Suppose it would pay itself off with the better MPG/cheaper tax & insurance.
