10'000 x 0.11 = £1100
Government pays 0.4 a mile
Theoretical amount claimed should be £4000
Difference between these = 4000 - 1100 = £2900
Tax relief on the difference is 22% of £2900 = £638
Think realistically for a minute.... Do you think the government can afford to pay out this £2900 to every Tom, Dick & Harry.....
