Hence why he wants an alarm with remote start... they shut down if an intrusion is detected, or if the car revs rise without the key in etc..

I think they might have thought it through a bit more than you did.

Who cares about starting it to warm it up on a cold morning? It's an ace thing to have just to show off

actually, in my subaru owners manual it says to make sure oil is warm before driving enthusiastically and also to let car idle for 10 seconds before turning ignition off.
and thats a true story.

so whats the problem with starting and running the engine for a bit before driving off? wont do the car any harm. Infact it can only be better for the car.

I had remote start in my corsa c 1.2, was great for mornings like this, just remember to put the heater onto full before you get out the night before

Keep to low revs and it's the same as letting it idle a few minutes

no its not, letting it idle is leaving the engine to run at around 1k and below, driving at low revs will be above that, i know its picky but its not the same

its not really though as you are putting more load on to a cold engine

I just jump in,start it up,let it tick over for 5secs then drive.Gets warm after 2 mins of low rev driving.
Fuk wasting fuel with it just sitting theyr at higher revs when i could be driving it and using the same amount of fuel.
I also dress appropriatly(sp) in the winter so not that cold when i get in the car.
