My instructor told me and I said it only works in 5th, no other gears.
Only 5th. As I said I stand corrected but its always been right for me in every car I've been in, in 5th.

I don't actually understand the 4500rpm bit, the gearbox isn't adjustable so its just the way it is.

I had a 1.2 16v sxi a while back, managed to get it to 28MPG some days and 42MPG other days weird.

Mine is really bad on fuel in the winter in the summer i can get about 70 - 80 miles on 10 pounds

my corsa eats petrol but thats de-catted nd 4branch etc but mine does 70 or 80 at 4500rpm
forgot to say mine is a 1.6 16v sport

Sounds about right. My old 1.2 8v was rubbish on fuel. Got a gsi and that was better
