It was only intended as a joke!

I've personally never used Toyo - several mates have, and say they grip well but wear out very quickly.

Never heard a bad word said about Yoko's or even Falken something - loads of people on Pistonheads use them on all sorts of cars.

I use to use t1-r's i found them ok good in the dry and wet however felt they gave my steeing a bit of play maybe due to the side wall consruction??? i then went to ealgle f1's which were a vast improvement on the toyo's, play in the steering had gone and the grip was alot better in all conditions, the only down side to the goodyears was wear i went through a set of fronts in 3/4 months but then i got through the toyos pretty quick to, however it was 3/4 months of fun

I'd say r888s or AO48s depending on which we go for in the WR group buy

If i was to be doing any track days again id be very torn between AO48's and r888's.

Tried both and for me the AO48's just grab it for me but out of the two, id go for which ever you can get cheapest though tbh.

s drives are fucking epic win for the money. R888 may be a bit overkill on a 1.2?

Nope, that was gonna be my next move till I killed it, it may be slow but you still go round the bends the same sort of speed as faster cars

I did most of my track days in my old purple 1.4 16v sport, got killed on the straights by most things but had a damn good go at everything in the corners

As the 1.2 won't have much straight line speed, you need to do everything you can to maintain/increase corner speed

Is it just me thinking why would you want semi slicks on a 1.2?

Infact why track a 1.2?

It's been explained above about the semi slicks, as for tracking a 1.2, it's fun and it gets even more fun when you start challenging and overtaking faster cars. I tracked my 1.2 various times between April 09 and Nov 10 and it would be seeing more of the track if I hadn't crashed it last time out

I will ask again.
Have you done trackdays before Faz??Is it really worth paying all that cash for decent tyres when they probably wont be beneficial if you havnt done a track day before.Ignore the above though if you have.
Just feel like the money would maybe be better spent on some practice 1st getting to know the car/track etc.

Oh and regarding the tracking a 1.2.I too dont see the point.Wheres the fun in being on the limit challenging and over-taking faster cars that clearly arent trying anywhere near as hard as you.

Did you take your car around Knockhill Mike??

On the topic of 45's or 50's I'd be 50's everytime for track tyres.

Not sure if other peoples opinions are the same, but I find there is a bit more give in the 50 profile therefore it handles better.

I find the 45's too rigid and on a car that struggles with understeer anyway they're terrible.

IMO of course.

Agreed - in fact I'm not even sure you can get 888s in 45.
