Of course 20% is a lot, but 2.5% is not, certainly not enough to warrant the outrageous maths I've seen today.

I appreciate that it all adds up - but really - interest rates are low. Swings and roundabouts.

I went to Tesco earlier and all the shelfs were well stocked and it was quiet.

Everyone must have stocked up before the VAT increase

Income tax could have been brought up instead. Then you'd have to pay the increase, at least this way you can avoid it by buying less shit you don't really need.

No it wouldn't, it would cost Mike £1200.

I've highlighted the bit of interest for you

Proven me wrong, I thought we was far overtaxed than other countries.

Same. And the sad thing is the amount of people who take it all in as if 2.5% is the end of the world.

Only earlier I was talking to a tenant who said "I dread to think of my next food bill now VAT is risen"

2.5% is not much on most purchases, granted, it'll add up though.

More people are annoyed that we're paying 20% total VAT, this is an outrageous amount compared to other countries in the EU. Rip off Britain

Most countries in EU pay more VAT that 20%.

Edit: Just read page 2

It won't make much difference unless you start spending big money as stuff that's 99p won't suddenly be £1.01 will it. The shops will absorb some of it and up prices on others so overall I can't see it making much difference. I got a 5.7% pay increase this year anyway so it's swings and roundabouts.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.
