I've had mine do an indicated 40mpg on a long motorway run, though on my daily commute (mostly A roads) it does around 26-27. So thats roughly 260ish miles to a tank, which comes in at about 57 quid give or take a lil at todays prices.

Although i'd be happier with an Arden Blue one one 19's obviously this one wont be around when i'm ready but the heated seats are a big plus point

I get to drive Mazda's all the time and the only one i'd have is the 3 MPS like Grahams, Vectra? Boring, Astra is in the running, Golf? Maybe

get an impreza, run it on aftermarket management.then to justify the mpg, fit lpg and have 2 maps, 1 for lpg and 1 for when you want some fun

Keep away from an astra Vxr lol.
What your looking for mate is a MK1 Leon Cupra R. Brilliant cars out the box and so practical your wife would love it. Plus it's one of the best lookin standard cars IMO.
If mpg is an issue then the Leon Cupra tdi is a corking car. My mate has one and it's stunning lookin and it goes very well once mapped.

Dosn't the Leon Cupra Tdi use the 150pd engine??
Arent they prone to the cam lobes wearing down and doing some damage??
The above may be wrong, but ive heard of a few, know of 1,and the guys over on Svag seem to advise people to stay away from the 150pd engine.

The Mk1 Octavia VRs is alright on fuel (1.8T engine), most people get upwards of 30mpg from them

I think this is a case of 'false economy'.
I know the audi is abit juicy (nothing major in my opinion), but the out goings on another car will deffo out weight the savings on MPG.

Ive just go used to un-eco cars
I do approx 100 a week commuting and the rest at my own will. I budget for £40 just in case. I suppose its all about what your use too.

That's quite nice, although if you listen to the interent the gearbox has exploded atleast twice Oh and the heated seats are fantastic in the winter, especially 'cus they have 3 seperate settings.
