the oil companies will buy this technology if there is any risk of it comepeting with oil. Will never see it

the oil companies may not be able to buy it tho. If the people who are designing it realise how big it could be they are sitting on their retirement fund

Why would then destroy something that is apparently cheaper and easier to produce than oil? If the cost to manufacture the product is vastly reduced then the profits that can be made on it could be massive, so the oil companies might buy the technology but only in order to exploit it.

If they do get it to work, I wonder what effects it will have to engine power?? The article says 3 times more energy, so perhaps 3 times the power?

If it gave your engine three times the power you'd be seeing people with holes in their engines all over the place. Three times more energy would mean three times more economical to me.

ie, getting 150miles to 10L of this artificial stuff instead of 50miles to 10L of petrol

Already happened with eleccy cars many many years ago iirc.
