I love mine, had it year and a half now and still not bored of it.

I only use it a few times a week and it surprises me sometimes how fast it is.

Looks wise I think it's ace - the bodykit suits it nicely and looking in the rear view and seeing the spoiler makes me smile.

I might contemplate swapping in summer as I'm starting a new job and may want something a bit better on fuel, but mine does 35mpg easy on motorway runs with cruise control at 75-80 and about 26mpg round town if you drive normally.

That alot better than I thought they achieved skylined.
Is cruise control standard or a factory extra? Or retro fitted?

Whats dodgy about lower priced ones?

Would rather get my hands dirty and spend a couple hundred on servicing/repairing cheaper one than pay over the odds for a 'minter'

Think it's standard, comes on the newer styled astra sri's as well.
Well if you want to hang back a few months you can buy mine

Tis in great condition and also has the £1500 optional extra of full leather heated recaro's

Also worth noting that blue ones are kind of 'special edition' as you can't get normal astra's in that colour, so are worth a bit more and come with blue seatbelts a nice touch lol

High milage etc. Any car with high milage is gunna to have the wear and tear that comes with high milage.
For instance my skoda is on 99k, run perfectly. Bodywork exceptional but I can't stand having a car on high miles.
I am also a firm believer of what you get what you pay for. But again, I saw a silver one with fsh for 4.5k on 49000, that is a bargin and it's the kinda milage I am looking for

Yea rick draper seen yours and it's really nice! Good price aswell. Maybe I am not looking hard enough? Or there are lots of dreamers out there. Skylined I may be interested if it's end of next month? As I plan to have one by april. Gives me a month to sell my car.
I want an Arden blue one, used to love how my corsa used to come out after just a rinse with soap!

Sort of debating wether to get a ready modified one or not. Really wanted one with an exhaust system and tints. So I can get bits done to it myself.

yes the 2.2 has the f23 but will make no ods anyway as you cant use the 2.2 box on a GSI

Do they have different gear ratio's??

Just with Warren saying they do 130mph in 4th.

My 2.2 only does about 115-120tops in 4th.

Where have you been looking mate? I found my one on auto trader and it was a guy in his 30's that had completely cared for the car and loved it to bits, a genuine seller whereas when i look on pistonheads i always get the perception that only chavs sell them on there. Saying that i put mine on their but it sold through auto trader.

There's a fair few threads on here about them.

Few points:

* fast
* thirsty
* look great
* grip well
* woeful driving experience (not a drivers car)
* well built
* poor visibility
* some experience turbo issues
* coupe cheaper

Yea I can do next month if it saves me the hassle of advertising it etc. Plus I'll be away for most of summer so would probably work out well if i can get rid beforehand.

Mines blue, 62k, rear tints and backbox. Gimme a shout when you sell yours if you're still interested.

Cheers everyone. I haven't actually used the search bar for this, sorry chaps

Skylined 62k is slightly higher than I wanted but I will see as I am certainly interested.

Have looked all over, pistonheads, eBay, auto trader the lot!

If anyone looks at tge selection on auto trader it is shocking!

Mine is quite clean, not mint but pretty clean. Has a few jobs that need sorting but i can do them myself. Took a chance on it really as it was in Dartford so i sent the lad a deposit and took the cash with me. Praying all the way that it was as he said it was!

List of bits that were not great were:
Missing headlight washer jets so its had a bumper at some point (03 car if it had not had some paint i would have been shocked),
4 wheels needed a refurb,
4 tyres on it were budget,
dash bulb for the lighting of the petrol gauge had blown.

Parts are easy to come by for them as plenty of people are breaking them.

O BTW I test drove a totally standard one a few years back and it felt shit, hated it totally (i was coming off the back of a Civic Type R). This one however feels 100 times better. The shocks and springs make a massive difference to the feel and drive of it IMHO.

Mk4 Astras are pretty poor cars, wooden steering and generally feel old. My Gsi had 35k miles on the clock when I sold. Even with low miles and eibachs it and it felt like a whale

I think what you need to remember is the mk4 Astra was in production for several years so when you look at 2003/2004 models the interiors do look really dated.

Get a mk5 its like day a night in comparison

agree with Fad, drive a Vxr, then drive a Gsi
