They won't cancel these now - it'll cost too much in cancellation fees with the contracts.
I also don't see them cancelling Astute at all, and even if they do - why wouldn't we ever be able to build subs in the UK again?

Too many suppliers are hinged on the Astute contract; lose the contract lose the suppliers; lose the suppliers, lose the skill set, lose the skill set = no more ability to build in the UK. The Gearing is the prime example.
One or the other will have cut backs and/or be cancelled IMO

like the supposed 20 MoD Police boats at 2.5million a piece - contract for 20 was downscaled (with penalties) to 5!!
