i filled that in, told them 4l was 15 at tescos  doubt they will match that
the oil is still 24 quid even for members which is 2 quid more then the same at tescos

TBH, for a fiver a change difference or thereabouts I'd take Opie's advice and whatever they recommend. I found their advice spot on and I know others who have as well.
If you're changing it very frequently their bulk buys might work out quite well. Is this the Zetec that needs fancy oil?

you should price up a 25L drum if your planning on keeping the car for the foreseeable future, they work out loads cheaper where I work.
Wouldn't bother with castrol on your puma, your just paying for the name. Comma or anything 5w30 semi synthetic would do the job just as well, doesn't even need to be Ford specific.

needs to be ACEA A1 / B1 for Ford Zetecs due the that fact the bores are nikasil lined, which can end up wearing away if the wrong oil is used

A1 is the lowest ACEA rating for a petrol engine oil, its just for fuel economy. A5 is the highest and is a combination of A1 and A3 (fuel economy and performance.) B just means it does diesel as well.

yeah that might not actually have anything to do with why it needs to be for ford, all i know is it has to be a certain spec due to the bore linings

Yes, it literally just needs to be 5w30 semi synthetic oil. I used cheap nasty crap in my Zetec turbo and it was fine.

I use carlube triple R, brand name and is cheap and "fully synthetic". Obviously not real ester based like proper expensive FS!

Carlube is pretty decent oil for the price, I used it in my GT TDi cause I wasn't happy with 20k service intervals the way it got hammered 
Costco sometimes have decent deals on Magnatec iirc

Bore linings will be more fuel related rather than oil surely??

yeah fuel affects it too, you're not meant to use additives like STP etc in them

I don't get what you mean Lee??
Im no expert when it comes to oil,i just didn't think that the grade of oil would affect the bore liners.

as oil is the only thing preventing the pistons eating the bores then i think its quite crucial that if the bore lines are sensitive in the puma the correct stuff is used
