I read the first book a few months before the first series started. I'm listening to the second audio book now though, the guys voice is a tad annoying at first but you forget about it after five mins.

I'm really confused by it, don't know who half the people are when they refer to other Kings etc and how they link!

basically,
dragon girl(house tragaryen) is daughter of the mad king that the king slayer (Jamie [house lanister]) killed, he is shagging his sister who was married to King Robert (house Baratheon) who's best mate was Ned (house stark, who has his own kids by his wife a bastard (at least one we know of) and stole one from Greyjoy from the iron islands.

When is the third episode out? I'm in the middle of the book just now and its unreal the amount of things left out.
I know they can't fit all the stuff in but some of it is really good stuff and could make the tv series even better.

Bought it on Bluray and just started watching. Shame there are a few dubious accents!

Probably my favorite books, ive read all of them twice over now - the show is absolutely epic and the books unbelievably are better.
very cleverly written, all intertwined plots and the characters are complex and enthralling. Like sopranos in middle earth a journalist wrote when it 1st aired.

I'm on the 4th book now (A Feast for Crows) and I'm completely engrossed in them!
I'm quite happy the series has done the books justice as well.
