I'd just fit it and not worry about it tbh, its just a scratch. It would be different if it was a piece of bodywork obviously but its only an exhaust at the end of the day.

this reminds me of a time i went to mcdonalds and saw a picture of a quater pounder on the menu and thought that looks appetising.. so i purchased said quater pounder, but on opening the container found that it was lob-sided..
do you know what i did?
ate it anyway.. because i was only going to shit it out again later.
same situation

Iv had the same with my sportex system, bought the entire system including the manifold and decat, think it cost about £320 all in all.
Anyway it turned up scratched to shit.
My solution = heat wrap
Corsa 1.6 sport - 1
1.7 puma engined fiesta - 0
Keeping corsa's on the redline since 2008

Christ its a few scratches on an exhaust thats going to be under your car.
I've seen and fitted a lot worse, it's not economical to wrap them all before storing them.
And with regards to it being new, it's not rusted or structuraly damaged,There is NO damage to the exhaust just the paint,
Give it a month on the car and it wont be that colour anyway.
Stop being so picky

Want oerfection pay for it.
Anyone wanting the underside of their car clean wont have a painted exhaust, it will be stainless steel.
At the end of the day sportex is a budget exhaust company.

I would probably just fit it and forget about it but can see your point.
You bought it brand new so it should be brand new. So what if it will be scratched/mucky etc very soon theres plenty of other things you buy in life that dont stay new for long at all but come in perfect condition when you buy new. so if it bugs you, you may as-well try and get a bit of cash back.

I would fit it as it is, but I would also send them over an email commenting on the condition on the off chance something came out of it,

Tbh as long as it fits ok, sounds good and does it's job Id just fit it and bring the noise. Fitted one to a friends Tigra, that had the odd mark on it, it all burns off after a while so wouldnt be too bothered

the point is..
he now either has to spend money to get it resprayed.. either if he does it himself or pays someone to do it.
or he heat wraps it - spending money
or lives with it and pisses him off
IMO chris give them a ring and say your not happy.. just DO IT.. dont worry about what everyone else says.. its your money.. you paid for a new one.. it should have come that way.
also you can show the guy this thread as plenty of others have said that their exhaust came like this too.. proving that its not a transport issue!!
problem solved - hopefully

Mine was the same when I got it, I wasn't really bothered personally as the paint on the pipes isn't of great strength and quality.

why would you get it resprayed? the paint will get burnt off within 10 mins of it being on there
