Price on these are daft, I took £5k for mine in 2008 and they're still about that now.

Mine was a well specced turbo as well, wouldn't have a 1.8/2.2 if the turbo was the same money, it's not a light car.

I'm using my mums turbo convertible atm and the handling is shocking especially at speed, I wouldn't buy one.

It's not a race car. It's a comfy cruiser for the summer. It's not meant to be good at handling, wasn't made for that.

Like I said before some lower aftermarket suspension really transforms these cars.

Mine handled much better than any other Vauxhall I've had (Corsa b/c, novas, vectras etc)

Rich: it's a heavy car, it needs oomph to pull it along without having to rev it's tits off?! Going by your logic Merc should stop fitting Sclasses with big engines because they aren't sports cars

Mieran, what suspension did you use?

Random coilovers of ebay made by Rokkor for £130 delivered from Belgium Surprisingly they weren't harsh or too hard either.

And had 4x Toyo PX4 tyres in 16"

After I fitted the coilovers I couldn't believe its the same car, thats how much of a difference it made

I fitted some TA Technix coilys to my Mk4 hatch and removed them the next day in favour of the springs that came off.Granted 1 of the shockies was fuked, but even with 1 side being ok,the ride was shit compared to spring and shocks.Going over speed bumps and pot holes,it was pish.

I was -40mm all round with standard SRi shockies and it had the comfort like it was standard and that was with un-branded springs.Im now -60mm at the front and its just a wee tad different, but in no way as bad as what the coilovers would have been.

Never been a fan of cheap coilys. The shockies they use are far to stiff and harsh for the roads these days.

Workmate has a 6n Polo with cheap coilys, its not slammed, probably about -30mm and the ride is shocking. Its far too stiff.
