1st service was done at Volvo because it was more convinient for the owner. Cars got a volvo engine, who cares who services it right so long as its done!!

If a car is less than 3years old it needs main dealer servicing to maintain it's resale appeal/value.
After 3years it's not worth it IMO.

Just reading a thread on RSOC, says in the early days of the car coming out, most dealers didn't have any of the proper stuff as it was difficult to get hold of so some where using Mobil 0/40 as it also meets ACEA A3/B3.
I would guess those that delivered before the bulletins were also less fussy.
As for Volvo doing the first service on Cols, no idea what they would have used but the Castrol is only approved by VW, Mercedes, BMW, Porsche and Ford so it won't have been that.
I appreciate that you need the stamp, I just think it's absurd that some minimum wage teenager using probably the wrong stuff makes the car more attractive than doing it yourself and knowing it's right.

Gotta agree with the peeps that say go to Ford purely for the stamp.
99.9% of the folk that will buy this car will be looking for
it or at the very least a specialist.

I couldn't care less if a car I bought had a full dealer service record. Pretty sure mine did but I didn't care, as long as it was serviced somewhere.

i agree, never know who is working in the dealers, just because they have a ford badge above the door doesn't make them specialist imo

it would look like the car is too expensive to run if the first two owners sold the cars within a year and there's two fastfit service stamps in the book

Still a main dealer. Its not right/wrong its what the accepted practice is to accertain the resale value or credentials. Its not the end of the world, just best practice

Tis happens with the Megane R26. Front tyres are expensive so a lot of second hand ones are "no expense spared" yet have Wanli ditch finders on a big power FWD car

Te mentality of 99% of car owners can be related to the standard of driving on theroads. So very poor. This means they will assume/think a main dealer gives some kind of superior service to an indy.
