I get irate motorists and people trying to close gaps on me when i ride the c90 which is like a moped.

The general car driving public are going to go beserk if you come past on a quad.
Sometimes i don't think people realize that filtering on a bike is totally legal.

Hardly smart asses tbh. Just making it easier for ourselves rather than overtaking you just after the traffic lights and risking you hitting us because you think we are smart asses.

Yeah but they pay for not waiting by occasionally falling off, it all evens out

I filter through traffic quite often, always get the odd jealous prick that pulls forward though when you signal to come in and nearly kills you.

Lol, a quad will not fit through the centre of double lane traffic if thats what youre asking. Stevie wonder would tell you that.

Stevie wonder isn't allowed on the roads.

Not because he is blind. Because he is...

Moped riders are not bikers, same as rocking horse owners are not jockies.
Dont think i have ever seen a moped filter through anything in my entire life come to think of it.

It's a triple lane and the quads only a meter in width.

thanks for some of the replies will just be down to judgement at the time.

So if the car fits you are legally allowed to squeeze through?

Which law is this?

I can't see the point in quads. I've seen a few recently in central London. You can't filter on the roads around here and so they just get stuck in traffic. Plus, you look a bit stupid.

I also don't get why cars don't let motorbikes through. If i'm on the bike, i'm not going to be holding you up when the lights go green. Its also safer for me to be in front. In fairness, a lot of people here actually move over and only one or two have moved to stop me filtering, to which I drop back and filter around them when they've stopped and can't move anywhere.

Road Traffic Act 1988, mostly.

http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/p_to_r/road_traffic_offences_guidance_on_prosecuting_cases_of_bad_driving/#a16

That is CPS guidance which would be used to build a case against someone who is thought to have committed an offence.

Obviously whether motorbikes or other vehicles force other road users out of the way is a matter for debate but I would guess most people don't want their car damaging so do so.

There's also a fair amount of case law which indicates 50/50 blame in the case of an accident in such circumstances. Don't know about you but I wouldn't want to drive for what must represent a fair proportion of your commute knowing that I was half culpable for something that might happen.

Most of the time on most days I'm looking to ensure that if anything happens I have some legal position in which to defend myself and win a case. So correct lane, correct speed, correct observations. I wouldn't really want to compromise that knowing I was already half guilty just because I couldn't want five minutes.

"misuse of any lane to avoid queuing or gain some other advantage over other drivers"

Suppose that would be the one then, obviously bikes must get by this as they aren't as wide.
