Probably best asking Nath about it cos the way it works where I work is a lot different to other companies. They hand out vouchers or something like that.

Where I work they go in to the shop and buy the bike for us, knock the VAT off so thats 20% off straight away and then they take the repayment out of our wage before tax so you don't get taxed on the repayment amount. Basically I saved something like 35%-40% on the bike I bought.

At our place they asked us to get an offical quote from a bike shop. Taken that to your Hr person, or whoever is running the scheme, then a little while later you get a voucher for that very amount which is as good as cash to the bike shop. Took a few weeks from start to getting my bike though.

Cheers Nath. I have found the information now, our's is through www.cyclescheme.co.uk . One of my bosses got a hybrid and got 40% off

I fancy the trek I posted but now she's on about getting one too so might have to look for a cheaper option

I really want to Trek 6000, but our work cycle scheme don't appear to have Evans Cycles on their list of suppliers (and they're the only place doing it for £650)

I bought some 'bib shorts' just before I did the Lands End - John O'Groats ride and they are thebest thing I have ever bought!

I could do with some socks stuffed down there too TBH

They do a bit I suppose. Obviously you wear a jersey over the top so they look like normal shorts when you are out and about.

They do have padding in the arse yeah, but they have straps that go over your shoulders.

Yes I did cycle all that way! Took me 9 days then when I was done I did the Three Peaks on my way back down to Bournemouth! Best thing I have ever done, felt so good when I was finished.

I didn't get on with the bib shorts, they would cut all the circulation off to my privates after about 5 miles and it fucking killed

Was bothered it was going to do some long term damage so I just ride with normal mountain bike shorts that have a liner pad built in now instead.

You are obviously packing a lot more down there than I am then. I did used to get numb cock after about 10-15miles but I dont seem to get it much anymore. I cycled 76miles yesterday and only had a bit of discomfort around the 60mile mark.

Could I get a set of cyclo-cross wheels tyres to put on so i can do towpaths or forest tracks etc?

Or would I damage the frame or something taking it on rough stuff?

I wouldn't do anything but roads on that bike. It'll knacker it taking it off road.

Yeah. its an option. Was in my local shop the other day and the guy was telling me that they are getting popular now.

They come with proper offroad tyres tho, but presumably I could have a set of pure road wheels/tyres to go on for road use?
