A4 or A3 2.0tdi or TFSI s-line? I love 123d's I think they are amazing cars. It would be such a hard decision!

serious bit of kit
Good shout and and although I did say grown up, I'm not quite ready to make the jump to 4 door. Having had a proper look, the ones around the mileage I'm after are around £3k over budget.

Looked at A3s but even the S lines are so boring to look at although the interior is miles nicer than the BMs. Plus the A3 2.0tdi is comparable to the 120d as opposed to the 123d. saying that if the right 120 came up, leather, xenons etc then I'd be willing to compromise.
Going to test drive both in a min so I'll report back. If I've got chance I'll go audi have a go of an A3 and VW have a look at the Scirocco (may be out of my price range though).

Looked at them with the BTCC kit in black or red, I like but the interior is horrendous, don't think I could live with that dash.

120d ('facelift' version) is fantastic. Very quiet and refined.

When was the facelift?
Or are you on about the most recent one with the LED 'eyebrow'?

Would have to be an A3 TDI for me. Loved mine. 1 series is a good car but I think they are really ugly so that put me off as I like having a nice looking car.
I'd get a 170 S-line too then remap to over 200bhp. Made mine a totally different car with the remap, what it should of been from the factory!

S-lines are quite nice in the grey colour.
do prefer the look of a 1 series mind.

1 series is nasty looking. Slightly better with the facelift but still an uggo if you ask me. Best one that's been posted so far imo is the A5.
Numberwang!

Would be over budget but could make a normal black one look like a special edition with a bit of paint I suppose.

You can buy the grill already done in black, would end up a mess if you tried to paint the standard one.

1 Series is a bit marmite it seems, I find they look much better proportioned in real life than on pictures.
For me its coming down to:
123d - Remaped 260bhp (08 Plate 40ish K miles) - £15k.
120d - Remaped 200bhp (08 Plate 30ish K miles) - £14k
Audi A3 S Line- Remaped 200bhp (08 Plate 40ish K miles) - £14k
