Crail has been a death trap in the waiting. Place is a joke for health and safety. Hope this changes things at Crail.

What amazes me is they actually lay a track out with tyres! How that can be thought as safe is beyond me.

Kano, was it a silver Clio? If so, I saw you pass the Diageo site that afternoon, the car looked a right mess, I assumed it had come from Crail as I saw a fair few motors heading that way all day...

Fuck me RIP man. We all rinse people for driving dangerously on the roads and tell people to keep http the track, but we forget how dangerous the track can be! I think we all know someone who's had an off on a track day and can imagine how hard it would be if that friend had died. Sad stuff

sad a petrol head has died like, but could probably been avoided if wor helmet and seatbelt/harnesses, which i would never go on track without . i think its crazy to gan on track with out both.
but whats done it done. hopefully the track will get a kick up the arse to enforce safety better

Wearing a helmet wouldnt have made much difference if he was thrown clear of the car due to wearing no seatbelt.

A sad loss.
However, *if* he wasn't wearing a helmet and *if* he wasn't even wearing a seatbelt, it strikes me as inevitable. An extremely foolish thing to do.

I think because it's a historic protected air field they can't go changing stuff whenever they please and would probably have to go through the proper channels but seatbelt and helmet should be a minimum

But it would be easy enough to use maybe cones or even those plastic barriers like they use at the go karts etc.

"Kevin wasnt wearing his harness at the time and when his clio hit the tyre wall the car rolled several times resulting in him being thrown out of the car"
His own fault tbh. What a mug.
Harsh but true.
How anyone can drive on the road with no seatbelt/harness on amazes me let alone on track!

Adam and I weren't there, so don't know any details/facts other than what has been posted up on the news and various websites.
The general consensus is that we wasnt wearing a seatbelt or helmet, but don't know if that is for definite. I think it is crazy that Crail don't enforce this but also think it is crazy that people don't use their own initiative and think it is ok not to.
We have run trackdays there in the past and helmets are not compulsory. We always recommend that people wear them nevertheless, and I have never been out on the circuit without one.
There was also apparently a 10year old girl in the car at the time, fully secured in the car, and she managed to escape with a broken arm (again, just what I have heard)
Sad times, and with all the complaints that Crail have had over the years I'm not sure I can see it staying open much longer
