I think too many people go by engine cc now a days. Just because 'its only a 1.4' doesnt make it slow at all. Old F1 engines were 1.5 but they had silly amount of bhp, its all down to bhp at the wheels and weight.

I dont see how a punto gt putting out 180bhp would get beaten by a XE corsa, even in a straight line you would have to be a terrible driver to lose against one.

I also love the way they look, bought a 1.1 a few years ago with 13 months mot and after about a month it had about 4 major fuck ups...... so for that reason im out.

I had one for three years. Absolutely cracking wee car. Didn't have a minutes bother with it.

The boy going on about a 1.6 sport beating them is talking utter bullshit. Mine was running aroung 165 brake by the time i sold it and it would show up a lot more expensive things.

Gt3s ( the ones from 97 on ) are the ones to get. Much nicer interior.

Heres a pic up my old battle bus - hope its still alive somewhere!

I give it some an he was nailing his aswell i not gonna lie. good little car and had few nits done to it i paid 1500 quid for it and it did me well as i say make up your own mind i dont care why would i say it for no reason?

I did have trouble with a fiesta (must have been RS turbo) in my punto, mainly on The twists, punto's arnt the best handling cars about.

Tried it on with an rx8 too. Bad idea.

Want another GT now

We bought OJC's old Punto GT1...

caried out a few changes and it was a wee rocket..... No danger a 1600 Corsa GSi could get near it (there were vids to show how funny the difference was).

Used to do 1/4mile times around the same as my 2.0 corsa at the time (mid 14's).

Interior was shite
Handling was shite (on whatever oliveoil had on it)

Loved BOOOST though

Sold it for £800 profit after a while and was actually sad to see it go.

PS - Also used to kick the arse out of my 300ish BHP R33 GTSt on the 1/4mile. It only started to gain pass around 70-80mph

I always had a soft spot for a Uno Turbo. But the Punto's do look pretty good.

I'd love a standard one. Most are modded and look hideous now

Uno Turbo would be amazing too. Was my dream car when I was little.

From my experience I would really advise that they should be stayed away from, but then again you do get the ODD few that are FIAT free

My ma had a 1.3 Uno Turbo back in the day..

E reg - E99 GST

Red with the 2 tone grey lower strips, arbarth wheels etc. Amazing wee car back then.... proper pocket rocket.

Punto GT's - I got the feeling i was sitting on it driving it, rather than in it

Had one, it was awful. Probably the worst handling car I've owned, seriously scared me.

Was okay power wise, when it worked. Mine had a few bits done to it, it was up to 167bhp or something iirc. Still it was at a time when I didn't really need a car so I enjoyed fixing the faults... there were a lot, but, everything's pretty cheap to fix tbh.
