80 mph on the speedo isnt a true 80mph anyway. I know in my car when my speedo says 80, im actually only going around 75-76mph.

I don't think this is necessarily true. If you drive through France, which has a variable speed limit for weather conditions, people drive at or around the speed limit which is 80mph/130kph in the dry and 68mph/110kph in the wet. The only people you see hooning are people on foreign plates.

My experience may differ to everyone else's but I tend to avoid 70 for a different reason - because everyone else is doing it.

At least at 60 or 80 you meet other traffic enough to pass without fuss. 70mph on cruise control is a nightmare because other people generally deviate between 65 and 75 meaning you catch them up but they speed up while you're half way past.

I'm so used to doing 60 towing stuff that I usually just sit at that speed anyway, it's better on fuel and less hassle for the above reason. And I don't typically need the 10 minutes these days.

very true i usually sit at 90mph after nights because i know i'll only get 3 points if caught.

now i an do another 10mph and still get 3 points

there'll probably be a law which keeps the 100mph ban limit whilst increasing the limit to 80mph.

100mph is not an intsant ban

its a myth

between the hrs of 7am and 7pm is very hard to sustain 70mph due to volume of traffic anyway

well my father is a magistrate who issues penalties and fines

100mph can be a ban but each case is dealt with dependently

A guy got 6 points and £800 the other week for 108mph in court

So is my father a liar?

also TV episode is not going state that you can get away with 100+mph

you started it - I merely stated a fact - you took offence and asked was the police officer lying

its not arguing its starting factual information not based on cops on TV shows trying to show how good they are
