Left the RAF as an avionics technician to breed rare breed pigs and cook them on hog roasts. needless to say, that didn't last long so went from that to building Eurofighters.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

since those uni summers i have been in Engineering
the industry changes are the big ones
BOC Edwards: Vacuum Pumps (developement engineer)>Marshall Aerospace: Aircraft (structural design engineer)>Microsharp: coated plastics (Production engineer)> Crown: food and beverage can (developement engineer)
the roles change considerably, design, development and production are quite different disciplines but there is little to no cross over between companies!
How did you get into marshall aerospace? Was it a graduate job or apprentice etc? I was looking at jobs with them.

My employer are making some cutbacks very soon. 3 or our 18 strong team are set for the chop. I'm one of the highest earners, so I fear I could be one of them. After 12 years of ranking up in I.T, things could be set to change.
I've been thinking about what I'd do if it happened to me. First, I'd take a couple of months off to chill and re-assess life, then I'd do anything. I've had stress and pressure for the last 8 or so years, and after all that time, I've only recently realised that there is far more to life than this. I'd happily stack shelves. There's far more to life than money. I want to be happy I life, not living for work.
We'll see.
