I had one, the gearbox was about to break so I sold it. It would never have actually broke though because that's just an internet myth.

I have a Mk5 5dr 1.6T XP but thinking of putting it in for the diesel version for cheaper running costs.

Can't see the diesel being cheaper to run but you were advised of that in thread after thread before buying.

Right slight decision making dilemma now. Ive set my heart on a SRI 150 xp Astra, however my dad came home last night with a price list for fiestas, now I can get a brand new fiesta zetec S in white with the street pack, few other extras like upgraded stereo city pack for £7900 but I have to wait till march so it'll be a brand new reg.

I no most people it will be an easy one but I actually really like the Astras, but having a brand new car is really appealing, not mot's, full warranty, cheap to run/insure but I'll have to wait till march and it's also smaller not as nice looking. Grrrrr don't no what to do :-(

I get these deal's through my dad's work, just don't no i do like the idea of a new car especially as wont have to worry about loosing to much at that price. But i do really like the astra now :-/

Going to go and test drive both today and see what i prefer and want to go for, as i was getting these to save money I'm kind of thinking the fiesta would be best, how ever having to wait till march is a killer

I love mine
Do wish we had gone for xp kit too, but ours was bargains and came with other extras like the auto lights, bluetooth kit, sat nav, auto wipers
Always said we would get xp kit fitting at a later date.....

Well went and test drove one as have never driven one, loved it. How ever the gearbox went on the test drive wouldn't stay in 5th & wined when slowing down in gear & moaned when i sped up.

But i do love them so every site is under monitor now until i find one

There is no different map, it's a bit of a gimmick imo.

The throttle changes so that pressing less of the pedal gives you more acceleration.

I think all SRI's come with it anyway.
