its far from bollox this is how its all come about! I was refused a loan at 19 (2002) without taking out PPI, no one would give me one unless i had it, in the end i went with EGG as it was the cheapest and then claimed about 2/3 years ago after Martin Lewis was on GMTV speaking about it.

I've had loans, credit cards and finance, every single time been offered various add ons, every single time rejected them. If they said I couldn't have it without ppi I'd have said, wait for it, no thanks.

In regard to me getting more money if i rang the bank. They rang me themselves and i accepted the offer direct rather than pay 10%

At the time maybe, but you can claim it back with interest so you end up actually being better off than those who didnt take it

I received a letter y.day from hmrc saying im being refunded just over £800, But there was no cheque in the letter, Some people have told me they will pay it straight into your bank and others have said they will send me a cheque in about 6 weeks. So im scratching my head a little.

I thought emergency was 30%?

I'm a sub-contractor and get 20% deducted at source every week, got £3090 back this year from 7 months work

I used to sell ppi on credit cards and confirm it was added without even asking.

The favoured trick was if a foreign speaking person called up to activate there new card then tell them u are activating there ppi aswell. They had not a clue as could barely speak english. Same applies to the cancelation!
