Scotland thumbs its collective nose at Mother Nature. The worst storm winds for many years hit Scotland on 8/12/11, and were quickly reduced to an epithet for a scrotum... Go the Scots!

Didn't seem too bad in Glasgow from sitting in the office, had to walk outside there, it's definitely a wee bit windy.

First have taken all double decker buses out of service

I can see this being a massive anti climax.

Power is off/reduced in quite a large area west of Dumfries (which includes my work). Can't service/MOT a car if it's stuck up a ramp!

1244: Scottish Power says about 200 residents in the Sanquhar area of Dumfries and Galloway are without power due to what is believed to be a fault with an overhead line. Engineers are being sent to repair the problem.

What has happened to this country? Schools closed and people told to stay away from work because it's windy? Surely that last bit is a piss take.

It's pretty draughty round here, 50/60mph according to local weather, but the roofers are still slating the roof I've just finished and we're out on the scissor lift doing the cladding.

Driving up to Scotland tomorrow afternoon, can see that being a bit of a nightmare now.

The roof has already came off a school and a school bus has been blown over so it's fairly justified in this instance, the worst hasn't even started yet apparently.

I will admit closing a school with no roof is probably justified in this instance

Still doesn't excuse closing all schools, what happens if they get sent home and the roof blows off their house, should've stayed in school!
