I've driven and flown. Fly Birmingham to Edinburgh, coach from the airport and you're in town within an hour of getting off your flight. It's a nice drive too, but coming home is a bit of a pig because that last stretch of the M6 before Birmingham seems to go in forever! Think it takes 6h to drive?

Was in the city centre last week dropping a car off in my 18ton flatbed.. DO NOT drive, the place is a fucking joke just now. Could've been done for GBH several times by the time I got back over the bridge if I wasn't in a good mood.

I flew in and got a bus to town. cost very little and was decent. When I flew out we got a taxi and was less than £20.
Got around the city on foot with iPhone maps. Best place in the UK I have visited. It's magic at Christmas
