also get a 52 plate or even 03 plate if you can

Sline versions were done on 51 plates and 02 plates which got 20mm lowered suspension and Avus silver paint

then on the 52 plates this became standard so pretty much rendered the sline poinltess

Late 52 plates onwards also get the 3 bar grill instead of the 5 bar grill which gives them a slightly updated front end

The 225 gets xexons as standrad with grey light surrounds.

for me the pick of the range was the 189 FWD version

Just as quick to 60 as the 225 but very few about

i would drive both mate

for me the V6 didnt suit the car and there is little in performance - plus a remapped car is much quicker

yeah, silly money but I like the styling and seats.

V6 is nice though (same kit as sport), bigger brakes than 225 too.

Already had a mk4 Golf............TT's something different I guess, I like the interiors in them.

A Mk4 R32 thats not been abused is 8k as well, not 4-5k!!

225/240/V6 TT quattro would probably be my top choice of the mk4. Then S3, then LCR, then R32.

just imo, of course.
I wouldn't bother with a normal mk4 Golf GTI

I've emailed the bloke about that one ^ (says it's only 4 miles away) to see if he's still got it and if any chance of viewing over weekend. Will let you know if he gets back to me!

On the V6, a basic check for the dsg box is to pull off slowly in D and R and make sure it's nice and smooth. I'd personally check the launch control to make sure there's no knocks etc under hard accel.

Launch control is either in S or Manual D left foot on brake, turn ESP off and plant right foot, revs will hold at 3k, foot off brake there's shut be a slight pause then byeeeee!

If the car feels like its pulling with your foot on the brake, turn ESP on and off a few times and check again.

Also make sure the car is fully upto temp first as the car box won't allow full performance launch/shifting until up to full temp

Ive thought about all the above with exception of LCR as im not a fan. Considered an E36 M3 as well but reckon it might be a money pit for what im wanting to spend.

TT's best of the lot I think, plenty available. Im not really wanting a hot hatch.

Plus if I really like it & want to then a few quid in the right place & it can look fine!!

Totally agree. If you end up with a 225 then fit the V6 rear valance.

I'd love a mk1 TT

Hi mate,

I traded mine in for £4500. It had 70K on the clock and full service history etc etc. Great cars but as mentioned, electrical faults galore. Mine extended to:

- Replaced dash under warranty - £1000
- Various sensors
- Electric windows had a mind of there own
- Side lights blew constantly

I would just make sure the dash has been done if buying one mate. Great cars though, cracking engine and it was amazing in the snow!

Was looking at them but ended up settling for the golf after looking at a few lower priced ones they really didn't look like they were looked after or they were riddled with the common problems that have been mentioned in the thread.

How many did you look at? Did you find certain years to be problem or all them in general?

Quite fancy a 2004/5 DSG V6 nooo like!
