Imagine this then.

You look at engine on ebay. It looks mint on picture.
You agree to buy it and travel 200 miles to get it. Once you get there it's all covered in oil and looks NOTHING like in picture. Would you be happy?

Depends whether I had a rag in my door pocket.

Technically its Warren's pic, copyright, permissions etc. etc. but really, what can you do? Sue the guy for your losses is what. Count them for me.

I had the same issue when someone was selling a roll cage. They used a pic of my car from my build thread. I reported it and eBay removed the add
I personnaly wouldn't have an issue if I was asked first. But it's pure cheek

I wouldnt say its the fact hes used his pic, its the fact that its something you buy based on its condition, therefore the add is misleading

second hand on ebay is all about condition is it not?

If you bought a dvd or a camera say and the picture was not a retail picture but it showed the item as perfect condition, no marks or scratches, then it turned up a mess, would you be happy?

personally, its a picture of a factory fitted engine on a stand, the same as any other engine like it. i don't really see the issue at all.

1/ I was talking in regards to him using a pic of my standard engine on a stand, not as the person buying it from eBay.

2/ if i was buying from ebay, i'd be taking a risk knowing that i can't see it running so i'd have asked relevant questions before collection and i would make sure it turned freely before handing over any cash.

An engine that was covered in oil, would not bother me. I'd be more suspicious if i could see it had been cleaned.

I personally wouldn't bother to buy something if I turned up and they have used a different picture, it just seems a little dodgy and I would be annoyed to have driven there, spent money on petrol to find that out.

Takes 5 minutes tops to get a picture and isn't like a camera is that expensive, even a phone one.
