He posted a thread a while ago about pursuing some ideas, the likes of which would have been fairly big if he'd have got in before the other big companies who are doing it now. He said his dad stopped him, and got mocked for that not actually being the sole reason.

Think we need an official list of rivalries so we know what and who we are dealing with here. Personally I don't think I'm a culprit but I could be without knowing.

Whats the policy on racism? Both to other members or general racist remarks if they differ.

And the reality was, that wasn't the actual point I made in that post, rather instead it was just what people inferred from what I wrote.
That's why when people use that as an insult, I always feel a little

I think as soon as you credit not implementing a good idea to anything other than not personally giving it the time or resources that it needs, its going to look bad.

The ironic thing was, several of the ideas I was talking about - 'that my dad stopped me doing', I did and failed on my own merit. That's once again, why the whole 'insult' / point people inferred was completely bogus
My dad didn't stop me doing anything. IIRC the whole thread was just about how my dad seemed to always be behind the curve when we discussed things.
- It was everyone else that inferred, that my dad's naivety stopped me actually going ahead with things.

You trashed it so we can't revisit the finer details but I've just given it another read and you did say his position made you more risk averse.

my dad used to constantly say I was 'smart' and that he knows I will do well in things because I am 'clever' - however, I now realize it not only puts pressure on to succeed (AND CRUCIALLY not to fail), but it also means at the first hint of failure, it is accepted that there was nothing that could be done, I was just not good enough. Rather than thinking if I keep working harder / put more effort in, I'll eventually succeed.
As a result, I become risk adverse - afraid of failure
I was actually enjoying the debate until you trashed it

You do know he's the least arrogant person you could want to meet.
This is somewhat my point, most people don't look past a quick opinion formed on bad evidence.
